As the venue partner for Spotlight 2022, Blank Canvas is pleased to collaborate with Penang Art District in presenting this group exhibition, supporting a new generation of Malaysian artists. Alongside hosting the group exhibition, Blank Canvas will also provide the exhibition space for the grand prize winner’s upcoming solo exhibition as part of our continued support for emerging talents.

Spotlight by Penang Art District returns with its fifth edition, offering young aspiring and emerging artists the opportunity to undergo a mentorship program with an art professional and showcase their body of works in a solo exhibition. Welcoming applications from all over Malaysia, Spotlight 2022 is an open call for artists aged 30 and below. This year, Spotlight 2022 calls for young artists who are bold and constantly pushes the boundaries of the creative and thought processes behind their artworks.
